The iCOLL Project explores innovation and links in its collaborative cross-national business studies programme international perspectives on innovation with innovative teaching- and learning approaches.

The 3rd Online Seminar “Innovative international business cases and cross-cultural team work" took place from 26 February to 4 May 07. Students from Marmara University (Turkey), University of Economics, Krakow (Poland), Reutlingen University (Germany) Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania) and from Kent State University, USA were co-operating to study innovative business models and to present their solutions to a common forum. This online teamwork was moderated by international university teachers and coached by company representatives, acting as clients.

The seminar aims at introducing students to cross-national teamwork in the field of innovative business strategies, raising at the same time their awareness and abilities in international as well as intercultural communication.

A series of seminars implemented and tested the viability and sustainability of international online seminars in the study area of International Business and Management. 

The first international Online seminar "Innovation and Risk-taking: Entrepreneurship and SMEs in Europe" started on February 20th, 2006 and ran until April 7th. Students studied collaboratively in an international platform-based seminar the intercultural differences of innovation in business cultures. 
International Professors were tutoring the seminar. A Kick-off Tutor Training meeting had taken place on 9th/10th February 06 in Istanbul and was followed by an Online Tutor Training from February 13th to 17th.

In a follow-up Online Seminar on "Globalisation of R&D" students from Kent State University, United States and Reutlingen University, Germany discussed the topic of innovation in an international, comparative perspective (from 5 April to 6 May 2006).

The second Online seminar "Creating innovative international consulting networks" took place from 8th October 06 to 15 Dec. 06. Students from all partner institution collaborated (in the  in in virtual consulting teams to develop business innovation models. Aim of this online-based co-operation was

  • to gain experience in setting-up international consulting teams and to develop concrete profiles of expertise in these teams
  • to co-ordinate tasks in a cross-national and multidisciplinary team
  • to act as a consulting company in dealing with a case study 
  • to work out innovation models in the framework of the case problems
  • to present the results to the international forum of all participants and nominated business experts.

The presentations were assessed by academic teachers and by external business experts.

The online seminar was preceded by an intensive online training phase for tutors, providing hands-on experience in coaching international team-building and in teaching online in international, platform-based settings.
